It was our first trip together to Phuket! On the day of our departure, we agreed to meet with all the participants at the airport around 8.30 in the morning. Since we all very excited to go, most of us arrived at 7.30! After we dealt with check-in, immigration and stuffs, we grabbed a quick coffee to keep us alive and sound. At 11.30, we blasted off to Phuket with Airasia FD 3941. PHUKET, HERE WE COME!…

We’re here! It was a very hot day in Phuket. After we cleared the immigration and baggage claim, we went straight to the van we ordered. First destination was our hotel. We stayed at Le Piman Resort. It took us around 1 hour from the airport to our hotel. On our way there, we couldn’t stop talking, laughing, and snacking. When we finally arrived in Le Piman Resort, we put our bags and change our clothes and get ready to go to Rawai Muay Thai Camp to meet our trainers. We walked together to the site, approximately 500 meters from our hotel.

When we got to the gym, all of us get very excited to see the kind of training we will get for 3 days starting the next day. We hung around and shop a bit in their store before we went back to the hotel to rest and prepared for a dinner out in Patong.

Our first dinner in Phuket! We ate like we never eat! We laugh, we had fun, and we couldn’t wait to finish our foods so we can go around the area to shop! We strolled down the busy streets and we couldn’t stop but noticing the advertisement for Muay Thai fights. We can’t wait to see the fights!

The plan is to have some sleep to prepare our body for our practice the next day. But in reality, when we got back to the hotel, we went straight to our room to have a rest and yet, in 5 minutes time, we came out of our room, have a bit of a chat and decided to have a swim in the lovely pool! So much fun!

First day of training.

Wake up call at 6 in the morning! The trip organizers were busy waking people up while the awaken participants had their breakfast. At 7 we started our training by jogging. By 7.30 we gathered in the gym to have our Muay Thai training. It was a tired 2 hours but so fun! Our body felt so fresh after the practice and since our afternoon training didn’t start until 3 in the afternoon, we went back to the hotel to have our lunch and swim again. At 3 we started our afternoon training. Another tiring-but-oh-so-fun session. We hung around a bit at the shop, and did a little shopping and went straight to the hotel to have another swim and prepared ourselves for another dinner by the beach. After dinner, we sat by the pool, had some laughs while we shared our experiences for the day.

Tonight…tonight….at Bangla Boxing Stadium…

We had the same agenda as yesterday, but in afternoon session, the trainers teach us how to do Wai Khru. First we got to see their fighters performed the Wai Khru. After that they divided us into groups to study Wai Khru. It was amazing!

After the afternoon session, we, of course went back to the hotel and did another swim session. As for tonight we had our dinner at the hotel because we will watch fights at Bangla Boxing Stadium. There were 2 Rawai students who will fight that night. We put on our Rawai clothes and gathered at the gym and off we go!

The fights were awesome! We cheered like crazy! We learned a lot by watching the fights. Some of us took some photos inside the ring after the match.

Last day.

This was our last day of training. Though the rain poured heavily in the morning, it didn’t put our spirit down. The usual morning training went smoothly as well as the afternoon training session. In afternoon session, they teach us a bit about Muay Boran. That night we had our last dinner in a very nice restaurant and a very nice waitress. Yeah, most of the boys even took pictures with her. After dinner, Tuk asked us to join him and others for a small farewell. We agreed to meet up at the hotel so we can change to decent clothes. Tuk took us to the area of Patong. For a warming up, he brought us to a bar where we can watch some “lady boy” dance, even one of us got a little “hug” from one of the “lady boy”. After a while, we moved to a club nearby and danced our night away.  It was a really great night to end our trip. We got back to the hotel around 2.30 in the morning and packed our bags with our eyes closed. We had to be on our way to the airport by 5 in the morning since we have a morning flight back home.

It was a really great experience for us. We learned a lot about Muay Thai techniques, its traditions, meeting a whole lot of nice people, and had great laughs with friends. We would like to thank Khun Diana,Khun Tuk and all trainers from Rawai Muay Thai Camp, Khun Vudh from Le Piman Resort, and last but not least to our participants. Without you guys, this trip will be less fun.

When I first waddled in to Baan Muay Thai Club  I was weighting in at about 105kgs. I’d been living in Jakarta for almost a year and between living in hotels laced with too much of the local delicacies, combined late night work commitments meant I’d let myself go. I wanted to find some form of exercise that I’d enjoy and get me looking good.

I’d done some muay thai back in Australia as part of a company health program and found I really enjoyed it so went searching for a club in Jakarta and this is how I stumbled upon Baan Muay Thai….

The refreshing thing about Baan Muay Thai is their approach. Firstly it’s about improving your fitness, it’s not about trying to go out and fighting people. Secondly, for me it was about fun, then comes technique and power. The trainers know how keep you motivated to the point where 2 hours of intense work just seems to drift by.  Yes you’ll sweat a lot and you might get the occasional bruise, but if you keep at it all this hard work will provide you some great results, and do it with a smile as well.

Having lost some 15kg (and counting) over 7 months of attending both the fitness and the My Muay Thai classes I cannot speak highly enough of the trainers and their club.

We will have 3 days Regular Muay Thai training at Rawai Muay Thai Camp, Phuket. First session will be held at 7.30 AM – 9.30 AM and the second session will be held at 4.30 PM – 6.30 PM plus one hour for VIP Muay Thai training session.

Congratulation for all members who registered to its participant’s list. It’s such a first challenging trip to most of you, guys.
